Frequently Asked Questions

Joining Information

Q: When does it start?

A: Wednesday, July 5th at 10:30 for registration, and 11:30 for the conference proper.

If you are only coming for Thursday or Friday, registration is from 8:00, and the days start at 9:00am.

But there will always be someone on reception if you arrive at any other time!

Q: If I have booked accommodation, where do I check in?

A: The College Court reception is open all day and evening, and you can check in and access your room there from 2pm on your first day. If you arrive before then, you can leave luggage at the desk until your room is ready. Breakfast is included for those with accommodation, from 7-9am.

Q: How do I get there?

College Court provide information on travel by all means (except unicycle):

Q: If I’m driving, where do I park?

A: Parking is free at College Court (just give your registration number to reception on arrival, if you didn’t provide it already during registration).

Q: If I arrive on the Tuesday, what do I do?

A: You’ll be in good company! Find out who else is arriving early and meet up via our Padlet, or check the cafe area on arrivall. Check in at the College Court reception when you arrive, and you’ll be provided with suggested areas to explore, eat and drink during the day.

Q: Do I need to sign up for any sessions, or do any other preparation?

A: Nope! You can explore for yourself what’s available in our programme and activities, then just join the sessions you’d like to at the event (or see what takes your fancy!). Everything is open and available, and you can also choose to skip some sessions and relax in our games cafe, chill out zone or garden and arboretum. The Thursday evening activities will have caps on numbers, and you will be able to sign up for these when you arrive.

Q: I’m nervous…

A: If it’s your first time at Playful Learning, we particularly encourage you to check out the Padlet to find friendly faces and shared interests. You’ll also receive a warm welcome when you arrive, and decide how much or little you want to get involved in!

Q: Is all food and drink included?

A: We are a vegetarian conference. All food and refreshments during the day, and two evening meals on Wed and Thu are included whether you are here for the whole conference or just specific days. We will be providing your first drink free on Wednesday, and there will then be a bar on site where you can purchase further drinks if required. The menus will be available on the Programme page shortly before the conference.
