This is an activity for learners on the BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice programme. The activity is based on monopoly. The cost of staffing an operating theatre for the day costs £12000. The income from completing 2 hip and 2 knee replacements is £12000. They must navigate the challenges during the operating list to prevent patients from being cancelled and loss of income. These challenges become evident as the operating list progresses. Learners must choose a team brief card, send card and chance card at specific stages. The cards contain specific challenges which require collaboration and problem solving.
