Playful Learning 25 Venue
Playful Learning 2025 will take place on 2-4 July 2025 at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
On arrival on Tuesday, head for the Lullington Halls of Residence and follow signs to the reception block for check-in – see the campus map.
Wednesday arrivals should head directly to the conference venue in Bramber House.
The conference itself will be in the University of Sussex building, Bramber House (Falmer, Brighton BN1 9BJ) in the conference suite on the third floor. See the campus map, Bramber is in square C6.
Travel
đ If travelling by train, book for Falmer train station, which is adjacent to campus. There are trains to Falmer from Brighton station roughly every 15 minutes throughout the day and it takes 9 minutes to get there. (It is a long, uphill walk from Brighton, so we suggest you take the train to Falmer or a bus!)
âď¸ Gatwick airport is around 30 minutes away.
đ If you are driving to the conference, free parking is available for conference delegates and you will need to register online for a parking permit (the registration link will be added here 1 week before the event). If not, parking is charged at ÂŁ2.50 per 3 hours in this car park, and there is no long-stay option. If you are driving to the conference the nearest carparks are Car Parks 7 (nearer the venue) and 6 (nearer the accommodation) on the campus map.
Accommodation
For attendees who book an “including accommodation” package, bed and breakfast will be provided on the nights of 2nd and 3rd July. The night of Tuesday 1st can also be booked for those who want to arrive early.
Previous guests have noted that the accommodation differs from traditional hotels, so we want to ensure you have clear expectations. If you have specific needs or concerns, please do let us know in advance, and we will do our best to assist. Brighton is a popular tourist spot so if you would prefer a traditional hotel, or if you want to extend your stay, our partners at VisitBrighton have set up an exclusive Playful Learning site for discounted accomodation in the city.
On Campus accommodation will be provided in our student halls of residence. While these are not hotel-style rooms, they are clean, functional, and modern en-suite bedrooms and conveniently located just steps away from the conference spaces. Each room is equipped with free Wi-Fi, bedding, towels and toiletries all designed to make your stay as comfortable and hassle-free as possible. Rooms are located in student flats so you will have access to a kitchen
Breakfast is included with your accommodation, and you will receive a voucher to use at Eat Central, our university canteen located in Bramber House. This is a shared dining space and not exclusive to our group. You can choose between a full English buffetâwhich typically includes bacon, sausages, eggs, beans, toast, and other hot itemsâor a continental breakfast, offering pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt, and tea/coffee. All other meals will be incorporated into the conference schedule.
The accommodation has shared kitchen facilities and there is a shop on site. Out of term-time the flats are unstocked so bring a hairdryer, mug, plate, utensils or other items you feel you might need if you would like to use these facilities.
Rooms are in the Lullington blocks on the East Slope. The reception block (follow the signs) is nearby where you can check in and pick up your room key.

The Conference Facilities
Playful Learning 25 takes over the whole conference suite on the third floor of the Bramber building. Keynotes and welcomes take place in the Terrace room. Parallel sessions take place in the Terrace room, Gallery rooms 1 and 2 and outdoors.
There is a Quiet room at the end of the corridor and a ‘prep’ room for presenters. Refreshments are available throughout in the Lounge area.
If you need anything during your stay there are a number of useful facilities on campus including shops, cafes and bars. Click here to see the full list. There is a Co-Op supermarket close to the conference venue in the Bramber building. IDS bar is open till 9pm and Falmer Bar is open till 10pm during the conference.
Free visitor WiFi is available and provided by O2.
The postcode for the Halls of Residence is BN1 9RJ and the conference will take place in the nearby Bramber building.
Presenters – At Playful Learning we trust our presenters to set up and run your own session (weâre all adults, after all), so there are no âchairsâ at Playful Learning. Therefore, you can start at the relevant time, and finish any time you like before the formal end of the session. Feel free to use the room as you need to â just be kind and return it to cafĂŠ style at the end of your session ready for the next one.
The three main spaces, Gallery 1, Gallery 2 and the Terrace all have PCs provided you can use or you can connect your own laptop. To use the computers in the room, bring your presentation on a USB stick or put it somewhere you can access easily online. Speak to one of the conference team (wearing red and white Playful Learning tshirts and silly hats) if you need any help. There is a 15 minute gap before nearly all sessions so you can get yourself set up in advance.
